OK, it must be like this:
Spacy brought 1.5 mil dollars with him. Half went to Big Ace (it being ‘his” money). Spacy has the other $750,000 (courtesy of KofC) to play double-or-nothing with Big Ace.
You know someting is wrong when “mr.bribery” has to come in and try to decode or “guess” what sum of money is at play here and figure out what the Writer intended
But his financial audit can’t be right, on Thursday Big Ace talked of “DOUBLE THE THREE MIL! What gives?”. This only deepened the confusion.
Could the Writer have temporarily mixed up the numbers on his Invoice for writing this stuff with the amount he had Tracy bring ?
That’s why it’s never good to mix business with pleasure.
B.O.’s 3/4 mil is probably in police custody … as will the King’s money likely be, but for evidence.
Tracy’s feeble ploy, against a man he never met, he doesn’t know, is near “big time” silly. Nothing has linked Big Ace to scamed money (it could be money owed, cash borrowed, like Tracy just borowed?) Only events arising from anger, still to come bring out a crime.
Is this crime detection or entrapment?
The Praetorian Guard think this kind of “defective”, hope something happens, police work is just fine. With feigned surprise they counter “why it’s ONLY in the comics”. What a relief that is ! Then, I guess it’s how the Author advised them to “field” that ball.
With fingers crossed ,we have to hope that this QUALITY of detective work and the repeated rushing into danger without back up will not settle in as the norm
Surely, Dick Locher has enough competence in him, to rise above this pedestrian level. It’s not in good taste to have the Guard, scurrying around behind you with shovels (in undignified fashion) covering up load after load of “bloopers”
Ludwig! You got me on that! I didn’t realize there was two women on the police force! They must be under a court order to have two. No wonder the department makes the Keystone Kops look like geniuses. (I HAD to get that out, ladies! It was too good to pass up.)
While some see Liz and Lizz, I look behind and see a layout of “Back to the Future, Dick Tracy style”
It’s an adding Machine with a roll of paper (DL should use it !) there resting on a box. Whatever happened to all the electronics and multiple TV monitors that pervaded polive HQ in the late seventies.
Lizz is depicted in an early 1930,s setting. Naperville’s finest.
Marg, (from yesterday), I will agree; given the “style” of artwork here, it probably is intended to be a spade.
Today, the Big Ace face makes me think of the new style cell phones where the face-piece slides up half way revealing the keypad. His forebrow being the part that slid up, thus revealing eyes nose etc.
It’s clear that the voice in panel 3 is meant to be coming from the phone. As usual, little details get fouled up - the word balloon should be coming from the phone’s EARPIECE, not the mouthpiece.

Holy cow, it’s the long lost Liz!

Tracy could have waited until backup was in place. The casino wasn’t going anywhere.

But who has BO’s $750,000?

Lizz IS the chief. So, just who is this new female officer?

Lizz used to look better than this. This must be a scene before she got her makeup on.

If it’s 3/4 of a mill, just keep saying that, not 3 mill then 3/4 then three mill then 3/4. Our minds aren’t as backwards or scattered as the writers.

LIzz is mad because Tracy is having fun at the casino and she is stuck at the office…

Panel 3. Lizz does “I’m a Little Teapot” before sending out Naperville’s one man swat team to surround the casino.

That can’t be Liz(z) if she’s talking to the Chief. Liz(z) has a twin?!

In Panel #2, Ace says “You’re on, smart guy”.
Did someone else walk into the room???
Oh, wait, he confused Dick Tracy for a smart guy. My bad!

Strange ! And over at DL’s Praetorian Guard House they say WE are WRONG and Locher is “RIGHT
Considering the “source” that disingenuous view is expected.

Ludwig,
Lizz, the Chief, isnt the one talking in panel three, someone is talking to her, calling her Chief.

Why stand and call the shots? Depending what is under the table Tracy’s adversary is a target with layers.

I stand corrected but at first glance you would think Liz(z) is speaking.

I, too, stand corrected. Well, she looked like Liz.

BTW, my “sheez” was directed at the artist for having the word balloon eminate from the phone’s mouthpiece, not at my fellow posters. Just sayin’.
