I’m sure that this strip is meant as a subtle and heartfelt tribute to the great Theodor Seuss Geisel, whose birthday will be celebrated on Friday this week.
This is a great story – Thunderchild’s greed and arrogance contrasted with the compassion and plight of the Mole and the homeless people he’s helping. And it’s been so strong on character development, that the strip hasn’t stalled, even though there hasn’t been an actual crime until last week’s strips.Excellant writing, Mike!
I can basically understand why he’s not seen showing it, but Vitamin’s main schtick was popping vitamins. His name means nothing if he’s not doing his thing. Every Tracy non “straight” character had some physical attribute that illustrated his/her name.
Good morning " Tracy Tribe " and of course to VistaBill ( our "Patriarch "). I agree that Flintheart should be digesting vitamins, it’s his way of living up to his name & has been for 50 years. Great job Team Tracy ( as usual !!!! )
Black and white? Wow, what a way to start Monday! The girl teaching Mole to read (Dr. Seuss, no less) is one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen. I remember reading the Mole strips in the campus library’s newspaper room, and to see the modern transformation is very heartwarming. I do hope Mole becomes a semi-regular. But first, let’s see how he deals with Thunderpants. I got a feeling his hands are still very strong.
I’m worried about the Mole in the inevitable upcoming confrontation between him and Thunderchild. But I’m also concerned for Vitamin Flintheart — if he somehow gets caught in the middle, Thunderchild will snap him like a toothpick! And if that occurs, the Mole may snap too…
And YAY for a black and white daily! I know they’ll probably never make it a permanent change, but I enjoy it whenever it happens. The Sunday strips are the only ones that have ever had decent color.
I don’t see why Vitamin shouldn’t be popping his preferred pills. While research is proving most vitamin supplements are unnecessary, they’re by and large safe and legal..Speaking of related things, I wonder when Joe and Mike are going to give us a character who’s addicted to those caffeine-taurine-ginseng “energy drinks” that high school kids consume the way they should be consuming water…
The Mole is a dead man! He’s too angry at Thunderchild to not fight him and he’ll be killed and DT will have the most amazing revenge story in years and years and I love it!

I like the scene of the little girl teaching the Mole how to read. Patty must have called Tracy.

Your avatar reminds me of a book I read as a kid, Mike Mars, Astronaut. Is that it?

There are a gazillion details in today’s art that would be washed out by coloring. Black and white for dailies, always.
