Mornin’, DF, and “Morgue” and Mikie and the the rest….

    Holy Toledo!

They took Verl to Ohio on the company dime (cos we know it wouldn’t be on theirs .)

How’d they swing that? Called her their daughter?

Somebody sewed that on his shirt but he can’t,,,,um…. find it.

I think it’s meant to be the Red R oof Inn, cos there is one there (Google says so.).

Julie isn’t known for her precise lettering.

In fact the wall says “Welcomome to Toledo!”

    S’OK — I don’t come here for spelling lessons.

In the subject of “Things no corporate mucky-muck would ever say in this economic environment”, we present this fantasy scenario.

Well, stop it Burl. About the only things made in America are in the food aisles, but not everything.

The sign on the bar says….. " CASH BAR" ….then it looks like “Non-Execs”……. Remember, Burl is a Manager……so his "Mai Tai " is free……….

Doubt that a stop at a local eating legend is in the cards. Remember, this bunch goes to chain eateries whilst on vacation to see if there’s any difference between them and Crustwood’s.

That’s funny, I thought they lived in America. You have to go overseas to get American products these days. Global Economy, baby!

I used to shop at ChinaMart…errr WallyMart..errr WalMart. Now they are everywhere: Target, K-Mart, Shopko, JC Penney, Mernards, Lowes, Home Depot, Best Buy, Radio Shack…Oh #%# just pick a store. Although Menards does have a “Made In America” sale every so often.

Used to be you bought something and it would last for years, NOW you buy something and it lasts for months (if you are lucky).

jmcx4 — me too. Walmart says they have a lot of American good still — but then they get busted for working conditions in this country.

And as comicnut points out, foreign goods are everywhere, anyway.

Tcayer, your comment on this strip, I agree with.

We have to deal with a global economy, folks.

“American” goods might have parts sourced from one country, be “assembled” in another, finished, packed and labelled in the US.

The days of being able to put up a wall are gone.

Gym-Shoe — thanks — I was trying to figure out the first word.

    I don’t think he’s an “exec”, though….

    I sure wasn’t when I was a retail manager.

OTOH I doubt he’d be drinking an expensive umbrella drink — is it a Shirley Temple or did he cross the line? — unless someone else were paying.

And Dave — I’m an AF brat, but I was born in Illinois, spent several formative years in Cleveland, OH, and went to high school in Wisconsin.

A million years ago, all of that — but the Midwest is still in me, somewhere.
