Boy did I get chewed out.
The nice 911 people not only do NOT want you to test it….they don’t want you to put 911 on a single button.
The dispatcher said “that’s why it’s 911… so it’ll be easy to dial.”Speed dial buttons, and even those phones that come with 911 buttons,cause accidental calls.Once they have you on the phone they HAVE to determine whether you’re actually OK…like, there’s no burglar holding you at gunpoint…and maybe even send a patrol officer.A waste of precious time and money.

Yea no love lost between Burl and Ma-in-law. I think he’s thinking “tighter” not higher. Those people are so clueless in their own little world. But there are people like them that actually bread OOOO what a thought

I used to give blood regularly until they stopped using that little cylindical roll of cotton to support the needle at an angle; now it is flat on the arm and my blood does not flow. Last time I gave, the poor nurse tried to oblige by manually supporting it at an angle but her hands were not steady so not much went into the needle but we totally soaked a good size hand towel with my blood (I think a pint went there). Way back when, I was one of the first to have given a centain number of gallons (don’t remember details) and was given a wall plaque in a ceremony ;-P
Testing 911 is a very good idea. I did it a few years ago when I was a Fire District Trustee…. as recommended by the Fire Chief.. You just dial 911 and anounce “This is a test call”. I found out they did not know where I was. This resulted in a correction of their database….. So I recommend all make such a test call….
It must depend on where you live…if you do that here they bawl you out and threaten to bill you if you ever do it again…

They told me, as I said above, NOT to test it, or put it on one button….then spent a long time asking questions like “Are you _sure” no one is forcing you to say you’re all right?" and “Can we speak to another person in the house?”
When I insisted I was alone, the woman said “We’re going to send an officer just to make sure you’re all right.”
I think the theory is, in case you can’t say you’re being threatened.you could just say “OK” or nothing at all…but I kept saying “it’s OK, I’m alone!” and finally they believed me.
Also, it was years ago… so it could have changed…. but I won’t do it again!
I have a grocery chain where I have yearly blood tests for the basic chem test and cholesterol (because if I’m fasting I want a very short drove and NO WAIT! They have a local clinic (Mollen) come in on a regularly monthly basis and I am very early and take along some of my grocery items to eat with homehade items before driving home (Now 75, I avoid driving while fasting any more than necessary). I keep my own records of the tests copied into a computer spread sheet and receive results within 2 days of my blood draw..I would still be totally willyg to donate blood as I am A+ which is useful and I take no meds, and would even be willing to supply the cotton items, just not sure if the blood services would do it- once sent an email -no answer. I know there is a shortage but guess they don’t really care!
