Wonder how flameproof that little lamppost will turn out to be when the pumpkin dries out enough to catch fire?
Will we get to find out… or will the pumpkin cook to a mush first and get so soft and shapeless it falls off the light?
In the latter case…. will Joy decide it’s still edible enough to make a pie?For the neighbors, of course…. not like SHE’s gonna eat it.
And not like Joy is in the habit of making pies for neighbors…but they invited Burl and Joy to dinner, and now she owes them…So maybe she can pay them back without having to “cook” any of her good Stauffer’s for them, and in the process, not waste a(n almost) perfectly good cooked pumpkin.
Meanwhile…. what happened to Ma’s face? She suddenly aged about 20 years.
“MORGUE” and “SS…you little witch”: Nice festive touches there! I’ve been busy inspecting the candy we’ll be giving out tonight. Gotta make sure no one at the candy factories slipped anything bad into all the bags we have! Nothing stops me from insuring the kids will be safe!.BTW ladies…..isn’t this the first anniversary of your BB business? Wasn’t it in response to Jery’s “Tarzan” SPEEDO ?.I think I need more.
When I first saw the jackolantern on the light, I thought nothing of it because they make them for that (not sure about the gas light, may be no hotter than old light bulbs). Naturally Burl did not buy one of those, just stuck his thick pumpkin on the post, rather heavy for the cheap fixture he has.
This avatar is an old photo of me in my cockatoo costume – mask is made with many feathers Cuddles lost over the years over paper-mache. It also has faux gems around the eyes. The dress part is many different layers of sheer fabric which I cut in large “feathers” and finished with fabric paint on edges to prevent fraying and some sequin/crystal trim at the neck.
I just got into a black velvet dress that I will wear until bedtime. Trying to decide whether to bother with makeup. Need to deliver cupcakes around my block (1 dozen for my favorite kids and the other spread around to other friendly neighbors). I will not stay up late.

We all know where Burl really wants to put the pumplin, although Ma is frigntening enough without that.
She’s ugly enough to make a freight train take a dirt road.
