Yes, Joy, and your second cousin twice removed has sat behind me at the movies on too many occasions. And she had gas!I’m so glad you and Verla live your pristine life in a world uncluttered with such mundane things like concern for—or even awareness of—others. You two bring real meaning to the term “dim bulbs.” Enjoy the movie, after all, it’s a collection of shorts from your own life.

I have a friend I won’t go to the movies with cos she wants to talk….and not just about the movie, but as if it’s a place to catch up on gossip, whining and random thoughts…

Did I say “friend?”Does one use that word to describe a person one knows, but avoids eating, shopping, attending events or hanging out with?

Do you know that some people text during movies and while watching tv? I think it’s just as rude to do that as it is to talk, especially during a movie. You pay so much money for the tv shows and movies, maybe you should give them your full attention. Fortunately the Pennys aren’t glued to their cell phones. I like to talk during the commercials. lol

I seldom go to movies because (like gmf) I enjoy commenting on the movie (or things it reminds me of) and I’m accustomed to being able to pause it for any reason. It has to be something that really grabs my attention for me to just watch. Most of the current ones are just not my choice. Last July my man chose Ted to see, which at least set the stage for some other activities since we were platonic for decades -but in such a mild way (teddy bear).

Very rare for me to go to a Movie House anymore. Went to see “Lincoln” after Christmas. Refreshingly, no cell phone buzzes or lights and no one talking above a whisper! Almost at capacity also. However, most attendees were 50+. That had a lot to do with it I’m sure. Other times Joy and Verla will park their carcasses behind me and unwrap candy and potato chip bags all movie.

People became used to talking while watching VHS tapes early on…. I understand theaters improved their sound systems and increased the loudness in order to reduce complaints. It is near impossible to talk on a phone in a theater now…. and if someone does… few others will hear it…..! ! !

We went to see The Hobbit (one darned battle after another) and the trailers were so loud that it reverberated in your chest. Which is why my husband refuses to see many movies. I think the ;younger generation is partially deaf, and that is the reason the sound is so loud!

A few years ago, my wife and I went to a movie. Normally, we do just fine, we went this time on a Friday about 8, and for some reason there were more teens and young twenty-somethings than normal.

People were hollering and having a social hour, not even watching the movie. I complained once and the sent an usher in. All was quite till he left. After 20 minutes, my wife went to the lobby, and asked for the manager. We told him that we did not know one thing that was currently happening in the movie and we were leaving. He gave us two passes to see a movie in the future. We went the following week, saw a different movie and all was fine.
