They were old-fashioned even in my youth…when I rode dinosaurs to high school. But if you can get ’em in a thrift shop, Joy and Verl have some. They probably save those for dress up.
Marg… I slept in pink foam rollers… was that before your time?
Feeling Old Department:A teenage client wanted a 60’s hairdo for a “retro party…”(snifflle)..I told her that back then, instead of using a curling iron, the stylist would have put her under the dryer for an hour in rollers. She said “What’s a roller?”
My older sister had a roller set that heated up hard plastic rollers to wear overnight. They had little spikes coming out of them to help hold the hair in place, because you couldn’t use hair pins with them. They were very uncomfortable to sleep in. This reminds me of the old 1960s commercial for hair jel. “Curlers in your hair, shame on you!” These ladies have no shame. lol
By the way… today is “National Train Day”…. ! ! ! Going to Chicago Union Station to see lots displays including 5 tracks of various cars and engines… : )
I don’t remember the ones that Susan showed; those must have been early 60s (I was married in 59 and had hardly even a radio access for many years). I still use bobby pins every night in my straight hair, tho’ I have some sets of those heat up things under the sink in the guest bathroom. When my hair gets wet swimming, I will just comb it straight but I feel and look like a drowned rat.

I’m surprised they also don’t go out in their sweats and flip flops. See The Duplex.

looking on the bright side, at least they washed their hair. I too noticed the blouse. She must have kicked it waaaay back under the bed.

I’m glad I don’t need hair rollers anymore. Does anyone still use them, I wonder? That was awful sleeping in those things.
