I think whoever accepted Burl’s entry must have looked at it and assigned it to the “special” category…. it’s the only one that allows tracing or copying.
At my local fair, it used to be called …. well… never mind…. they just changed the label this year to the somewhat more palatable “Exceptional Exhibitors.”
Every entry in that category gets a blue ribbon… all the “exceptional” exhibitors get to “win.”
And we all know Burl is exceptional, in his own way.
I remember those contests, but you weren’t supposed to trace but draw the picture a different size. A couple of kids in my class (Elementary school) used an overhead projector to make the drawing a different size and sent it in. They got back a notice saying they had “exceptional” talent.
