I’m going to have myself cremated, and my ashes mixed in with the chemicals used to make plasma TV screens. Then I’m going to have my screens used to display the Mad magazine website for one full issue.

There’s no such word as “alright.” It’s an ignorant corruption of the phrase “all right.” Why would an intelligent, educated, experienced writer put “alright” into dialog? Using it in prose to highlight or mock someone’s ignorance is fine, but to use it in dialog, where, supposedly, it’s heard but not seen, makes no sense UNLESS the writer actually believes that “alright” is a legitimate word, which it isn’t, thus making the writer’s intelligence, education, and experience suspect.
