Duke: ... and... let's see... $200 on the rams with a 6-point spread... lord, I love this sport! Mac, I can't tell you how great it is you came all this way! "Lava-lava" will be thrilled! Man: Well, he's become the darling of Pago Pago, Governor. The local kids talk of no one else! Duke: He's a phenomenon, MacArthur. There's no doubt about it! Man: You're not doing so bad yourself, sir. You sound better than you have in years! Duke: Well, it's the country, Mac. Since we last locked horns, it's gone through a lot of changes. Changes I never thought possible. The American dream is over, Mac. It's been shattered into a million jagged pieces. All that's left is a nation of middle-class hustlers. Our institutions are in runs, and public life has been reduced to a Darwinian nightmare of competing special interests. As a people, we've been stripped of the last vestiges of moral purpose! Man: It must be an exciting time for you, sir. Duke: Well, I mean, talk about the ground floor. Man: Like buying Polaroid at 4 1/2, sir.
