I know that it’s unimportant, but as a logician, this is pet peeve of mine: of course it’s possible to prove a negative. (And if you don’t think so … then prove it!)

You can prove that there is not an elephant in your room. There are many negatives you can prove

Only in limited contexts. In the sense the saying is usually meant it’s accurate.
