Toggle: So how... j-j-job search going? Alex: Well, DARPA's still interested. I just don't know how well-suited I am for government work. I mean, what if they put me to work on a classified project so sensitive I couldn't tell people where I worked? Toggle: You... Alex, you'd... b-blurt out at parties! Alex: I would! I'd be a national security nightmare!

They are a good couple. See the devilish little smile on Toggle’s face in panel 4? Priceless. I hope more young folk can be like these two.

You have to be able to keep a secret in the corporate world, too.

lol, heh, i thought the goal was to have everyone work for the MIC. wasting money on defense is the American way. and the Red team loves spending/wasting money on defense. that’s their life goal.
so let’s be cognizant of what the real aim of the MIC is, full employment, War is Peace.

She should get a job at CERN. A move to Europe would create some interesting situations for the strip. As Alex implies, the only way basic scientific research gets done in the US these days is if you interest DARPA in it. Which is easier than it sounds as they have a ridiculously large discretionary budget.

Should be interesting to see what happens with Justin Trudeau, Leader of the Liberal Party in Canada. Justin is the son of Pierre Trudeau. Pierre was a cousin of GT.

@Beleck3… and Ignorance is Strength

“the non engineer/scientist managers were a [bleep] to deal with.”That’s well-nigh universal in govt. and the private sector, nicht wahr?

Guard, how the heck do you swallow this stuff? Doesn’t it give you a tummy ache?

Lies can be sweeter, and poison you. You’re like a dog lapping up coolant, ignorant of what you’re doing and growling at anyone trying to get the poison away from you.

Regarding my earlier comment about GT’s artistic skills, his earlier strips were anything but artistic masterpieces. Here is the first strip:-http://www.gocomics.com/doonesbury/1970/10/26-Here is GT on the Colbert Report confessing to his lack of artistic skills at the start of his career: -http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/367379/december-06-2010/garry-trudeau

That way under the Clinton administration too. Normally anyone who visited Russia during the 70’s is automatically excluded no matter what else might be going on. As it was a significant number of senior level security clearances in his White House had to be issued by executive order.

I knew I would be accused of not being germane by bringing up Justin Trudeau, leader of the Liberal Party in Canada. However, as I said before, he is the cousin of GT. Also, I don’t know if anyone happened to watch The Daily Show last night, but Jon Stewart had a bit about the Toronto Mayor, conservative Rob Ford, who was apparently caught on video smoking crack. At the end of the video, Rob Ford calls Justin Trudeau a derogatory term for a male homosexual, according to Huffpo and many other sources. Interesting. Something one might find in a movie or TV show, except it is real. Just another high-minded conservative hypocrite. Nothing to see here. I have heard of Photoshop, photos are one thing, videoshop, not so much.

And I suppose if the right winger cartoonist had a family member in the news, no one would ever comment on it in a comment section for that conservative cartoonist. No, that would just never happen…
Newshound41 over 11 years ago
Jim, Jim, Jim… I think you’re projecting.
montessoriteacher over 11 years ago
So you see, my comments about Justin Trudeau were rather germane, as having to do with the actual person who is responsible for the comic strip, Garry Trudeau. On the other hand, where is the outrage of conservative commentators against calimesajim, who never has a comment which is the slightest bit pertinent to the strip?
montessoriteacher over 11 years ago
Thanks Ragarms. It is nice to see you around here. We used to have a great commentator who you may remember, DT pi. He decided to take a break for a little while. A lot of posters miss him. He said he was just taking a break so maybe he will come back some time.
pawpawbear over 11 years ago
OK folks, my comment is not germane to the strip. Or perhaps it is, depends on who Alex goes to work for. I found the post attached to the following link on Facebook. It really should be read. I have been saying that we must unite against those who would keep us divided. That includes certain posters who think the right wing cool-aid tastes just fine. I am not un-American. I am a patriot who really hates to see our rights and freedoms dwindle away. The link below is a bit extreme but worth thinking about. Maybe, if we could put our prejudices and preconceptions aside, we could get our country back. No matter what race or religion or national origin, we are all in this together. We must not allow the powers that be destroy us. Please, read.

“I’m rubber, you’re glue; what you say bounces off me and sticks to you.”Even rightwingers should be able to come up with better “arguments”.
Greg Johnston over 11 years ago
That would assume any “arguments” were ever offered, as opposed to flights of fantasy. However, perfectly fits my image that talking to sarge is like arguing with an eight-year old – “I know you are, but what am I” quite literally is often his comeback.
