Oh, yeah, that’s right. That’s what’s it’s all about, all right. But talkin’ about it and bein’ it, that’s two different things. I mean, it’s real hard to be free when you are bought and sold in the marketplace. Of course, don’t ever tell anybody that they’re not free, ‘cause then they’re gonna get real busy killin’ and maimin’ to prove to you that they are. Oh, yeah, they’re gonna talk to you, and talk to you, and talk to you about individual freedom. But they see a free individual, it’s gonna scare ’em.

@Bruno Zeigerts Some music critics considered Steppenwolf one of early heavy metal bands.

Back then, it was shocking to say “freakin’” in a comic.(“Old Man Muffaroo’s acting like Grandpa Simpson again!”)

I’ve always loved “Four Strong Winds”. I actually had a Glenn Yarbrough album from the 60’s with it..And some of us are “Born to be mild”.

@artybeePlease forgive them, they are Walden (Yale) boys. College boys in the 70s rode BMWs.

All these years of reading “Doonesbury”, and I never was sure what “Heewack!” meant, or where it came from (nor where it’s going…….) Zonker was the first one to say it, I think. Was it some kind of Yale preppy thing?

How joyous the lives of the characters were back in those days, before the weight of the world was on their shoulders. Maybe that applies to us, too, rereading the strips after all these years.

I smile with a tear in my eye.
