Alice and Elmont look pretty good for a couple that are probably in their 90’s and have been homeless for more than 35 years.

Yeah, Trump reserves the words Filth and Sick, for those special people he doesn’t hate as much as some others.

Yeah, but he uses those words about everybody. They’re his signature words, so to speak. How do you know he was talking about you? Did he use them on twitter????

Didn’t Alice and Elmont freeze to death on a park bench years ago?

I wonder if readers criticizing even consider that Trump has a point.

The homeless were finally mentioned by Trump! Wow, so exciting. About as exciting as it was for the people of Baltimore when they were mentioned recently. Actually, if we are going to play the which area has more poverty game, the red states win.

I think I saw the start of Alice being homeless back in the 70’s (???) in one of the Doonesbury books I have…

They should just clean up all those tent cities that make states look bad. There are plenty of housing oppotunities for those that are REALLY willing.

I wonder if Mark is holding his breath while sitting across from them? He does have a pretty snazzy sniffer.

It’s worth noting that homelessness started becoming a major problem during the Raygun Administration after major cuts to funding for public housing.

Arm the homeless, I’m sure the NRA would support that.

Don Petterson makes an interesting observation above. We recently saw on the news an armed white guy with an assault rifle go into a Walmart in Springfield, Mo. He made it out alive. He wasn’t pointing it at anyone but it was visible. Some have said that if he had been a black man, he would have been dead. I suspect that is true. In any case, these guns don’t make us safer. If that was true, we should be extremely safe at this point.

Speaking of homeless, the recently elected KC mayor was homeless as a young child. He was sent to live with his great aunt in a nursing home when he was 8 years old. His father was not around. His mom was married but he was incarcerated. He graduated high school then attended Washington University and Cornell Law School. He is 35 years old. His name is Quinton Lucas.

In fact, Alice died at an unspecified time years ago. This is according to the answer to a reader’s question in the FAQ section of the official Doonesbury/Washington Post site. I don’t know who the woman depicted in today’s strip is – presumably Elmont doesn’t notice the difference.
