The US didn’t lose. We signed a peace treaty and honorably left in 1973. It’s the South Vietnamese who lost after NV and VC violated the treaty and started the war again.
Anybody want to be reminded that the war in Vietnam was known by the Pentagon and presidential administrations to be unwinnable for 10 years before we finally got out, and that someone had to release classified documents to finally show how corrupt the whole thing had been for that long to even get that to hapoen? Troops fight to save their brothers and sisters far more than to save causes and especially before they’ll fight for corrupt governments, or governments that lied to them, gave them PTSD, and even poisoned them.
Now can we demand to get better recognition for the damage vets have been subjected to and even just finally some recognition at all for so many years and get the treatments finally paid for? And not just Vietnam vets but for all those with PTSD and exposed to chemicals and especially burn pits. It’s owed them and it’s too long overdue.
In Chickenhawk, one of the guys points out of the 33 types of snake in Vietnam, 31 are venomous. With these kind of odds, you can be prejudice and just hit them all with your flashlight.
And we were only there in the first place because big oil believed there were huge oil and mineral reserves that could be exploited from another third world country!
Ha ha ha haaaaaaa! ‘We didn’t lose.‘! It looked like you lost as the last helicopter was leaving Saigon! You’ll be saying you didn’t lose in Afghanistan next. Or Somalia. Or Iraq.
Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing? Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago? Where have all the flowers gone? Picked by young girls every one. When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?
I feel you BD, I had to deal with two Rattlesnakes just this week. That makes 53 over the last 23 years living in the Cali Gold Country. Can’t imagine dealing with One in a Tunnel or in the 1850’s during the Gold Rush.

WWII, last war America won. All subsequent wars of imperialist aggression have been won by the good guys (our opponents).

Bamboo vipers are actually arboreal species, slow, non-agressive, they shake their tails when threatened.

Tell yourself that. Feel Better? 55,000 dead. Nothing gained. That’s a loss.

Addendum: 55,000 US servicemen dead. Countless Vietnamese deaths.
