Okay, I’m pretty sure even the Victorians of old didn’t put doilies on the showerheads.
Actually, if I remember correctly, the doilies were originally only really placed on the back of chairs, because at the time it was a common fashion trend for the men to wear this greasy oil in their hair and the doilies were there to make sure that oil didn’t stain the chair upholstery…I think that was during the Victorian era…might have been just before…
