Wally seems to be reacting with weeks of fear and loss and a near un-belief of having her back. So he can let his tears give way to acceptance that she is back.Holly’s reaction to having Wally back close is minimal but by putting her hand on him is like knowing that he is there and that she can trust him. or it could be just a body memory, of the times they would lay hand-paws on each other with feelings of the warmth of love and pleasure.
Thank you Aaron. Still have a day to poop everything up Just to torment us for 72 hours. Well… We wouldn’t stick around if you were’t good at this.:)>Blessed Be
Thank G-d Holly didn’t reject Wally’s presence. The way she ran away from him before, there was no way to know if, after what she had been through and how she found her home left in ruins, she still wanted to have anything to do with Wally. Then again, she could just be grabbing hold of any comfort being offered, not even knowing who it is.
Maybe it’s bothWith all the discussion of whether Holly’s presumed miscarriage was while she was a prisoner or sometime in the past, we haven’t considered the possibility of it being both. She may have lost a baby in the past. If so, and if she then miscarried while imprisoned, the current trauma (all the worse both due to the conditions she was being held in and also her not being able to have Wally’s support when she needed it most) would cause her to have flashbacks to her past loss.If this is what happened, it wouldn’t merely double her grief. The synergy of the two traumas would build on each other exponentially. As an aside, one possible way that she could have lost a baby at the time of the change would be due to her significant reduction in size.Presumably, a pregnant woman would be affected by the virus before it had a chance to reach the fetus to cause it to mutate. If Holly was in an advanced stage of pregnancy, her shrunken womb wouldn’t have been able to retain the fetus.Even if you (contrary to real life medicine) assumed that the virus affected mother and fetus at the same time, unless the fetus mutated into a small species, the same problem would result. No matter how you slice it, Holly’s had a very rough time and is going to need a lot of help healing.
See the strip on May 5th, 2011 for the last time Holly and Wally were in this kind of situation. Or, if you’ve got “Endtown 3,” page 50, left strip—-and if you haven’t got “Endtown 3,” why haven’t you?
On Doc Chase being the only doctor in Endtown…leafing through “Endtown 3” reminded me that at least one of the Security Rats represented himself as a doctor when he “examined” Wally…but, even if he is a doctor, I suppose he wouldn’t be in Endtown…
At least Wally understands the importance of being with Holly at a time like this. Her reaction to his presence (actually her reacting at all) is a good sign. There is hope.
Not sure if anyone picked up on Doc’s comment yesterday. He said that he would have expected Holly to chew her wrists off given the treatment she received in Security. A lesser woman would have chewed her tail off.
This is an interesting story arc. While we’ve watched Jake being carefully set-up byAaron Marx, all the time it has been Holly who has been a core issue in this story. What’s happened is that we’ve seen how other people’s actions have somehow involved Holly.
Poor Wally is wishing he knew how to ease Holly’s pain. He may not realize it…but that’s exactly what he’s doing right now.One baby step at a time… (no pun intended!)
Look at that! Our brave and resilient Holly is still in there! Reaching out from her self imposed prison of grief, she still tries to comfort her beloved.:-D Everything’s going to be OK! HOORAY!
Friday cliffhanger prediction (it’s Wednesday, so close enough):1. Holly: “Well Honey, it was like this……..”2. Holly: Why the (expletive deleted) didn’t you at least get the sofa out of the window?!?!?!?Either one would work. The second obviously funnier than the first.
Perhaps this would be a good time to remind the readers, Aaron Neathery was selling originals at one time for $130, IIRC. Anyone who wanted to catch this original at a bargain price, might want to contact him at aaronneathery@gmail.com . Since I have not been told otherwise, I guess some prints of auction pieces are still available through the Endtown auction site, which is advertised to the right of the earlier comments. Drop in over there and browse June and earlier months, and see if something you like may be available. There is also a donate button near the bottom of the Endtown auction site.Your votes are requested. Hour and a half to go. I’ll go out on a limb and predict we’re going to get a scene change to catch up on the other characters and to show the passage of time while Wally waits for Holly to wake up.

We know what’s going on with holly, but what about Linda Kowalski and Maude “Maw” Hefner? I’m wondering how they’re doing as well.

Sometimes the best way to help someone is to let them know you need help. Their care in return can be a great motivator.

Nice art composition. It’s hard to get small actions to be visually gripping in cartooning and you seem to have that down pat. Good job.
