Why promote stereotypes? Some women enjoy tech and practical gifts… on the other hand, cashmere is practical. It’s very soft, elegant, lightweight but still keeps you warm.Even useful with moth holes: it makes great cold weather gardening or winter fishing wear.

One year (about 20 ago) my sister-in-law only wanted one thing for Christmas: A financial computer program. As I worked at a software store at the time, it took all the surprise out of the gift-giving — so I put some back. Wrapped the present, shrink-wrapped it, wrapped it again, shrink-wrapped it again. After three or four cycles of this, I put a Post-It note in saying, “Don’t stop now, you’re almost there!” and finished off with two or three more double layers. When she opened the package, she thought the first layer of shrink-wrap was funny. The second time she hit shrink-wrap she started getting agitated. As she tore the paper off, she cried, “If there’s another layer of shrink-wrap, I’m just throwing this aside and I won’t open it!” Then she hit the Post-It note and almost fell off the ottoman laughing. She did finally plow through all the layers to get to the gift.
