My daughter was very late in learning to talk. Now at almost 19, she has yet to be quiet except when sleeping.
Both ends of that are you protecting them.
Then you regret teaching them.
In the early stages of walking, you learn to child proof the house, put away all the doilies.
I had kids spread over enough years that I actually noticed that while it was happening! :-)
I don’t remember my parents ever telling me to sit down and be quiet. But then, after they taught me to read, I generally had my nose in a book!
