Someone at work watched me washing my hands and mumbling to myself (I was counting to 20) and asked me if I was singing the Happy Birthday song to which I said “I can’t It’s not my birthday.”
Here’s one I came up with to encourage kids to wash; sung to the tune of “Row, row, row your boat”:Wash, wash, wash your handsEvery single day,Lather and scrub, Rinse them well,Wash those germs away.

There is an alternative to the happy birthday song. The original words to the music were:
“Good morning to you
Good morning to you
Good morning dear teacher
Good morning to you
\\//_

I can’t use the Happy Birthday song to count. I can never remember the last line.

“Happy Birthday” is too boring. I usually sing a verse and chorus from any of a large collection of morbid folksongs

I count five seconds on the back of my hand, five on the front, then do the other hand the same way.
