Stephen Wright joke: “Woke up this morning and every single thing in my house had been replace by an identical object” (or something like that) – funny when he says it – lame when I type it.
Reminds me of an old MAD Magazine bit on excuses then and now, mechanics talking to drivers. Then: “Your thelman wire was corroded, so we had to replace it. That’ll be ten cents.” Now: “Your thelman wire was corroded, so we had to replace the engine. That’ll be $600.” (I did say it was old.)
That’s what happens when I go to the dealerships for repairs. When I go to the places that were here when I first arrived with names like Ken and Lee’s or Hudson’s Auto repair, I get a fixed car, the parts that were replaced, and a fair bill. That said…I still miss the days it was easy for me to change oil, belts, etc. on my cars. I miss my ’68. C.

Sounds like something Gomer Pyle would say and do.

I’ve seen it done, depends on just how much you love your car.

If you replace even a single part in a car, is the car then still the same car prior to the change? What if you replaced every replaceable part?
Lukas220 about 12 years ago
it’s still the same car, but if he takes all the original parts and puts ’em together, isnt it also the same car?
