Transcript:
Preacher: Anthony Caine and Elizabeth Patterson... I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride! Anthony: I'm the happiest guy on the planet! Elizabeth: One more kiss and make a wish! Anthony: I don't have to make a wish, Liz... today, they've all come true.

Elizabeth’s wish is that grandpa lives past the reception…

It won’t be long, I predict, before he goes the way of Farley.

This comic strip has mirrored a lot of things about my family over the years, but this is the best coincidence yet, Elizabeth got married on the same day as my Daughter and her husband celebrate thier 4th anniversary! Sometimes we feel like Lynn is chronicling our lives!

I personally think grandpa has died already. The second panel looks very much like grandpa and grandma are together and watching Elizabeth getting married. He made it in spirit with his first wife.
summerdog86 about 16 years ago
I’m pretty sure that Liz hasn’t noticed yet, that Grandpa isn’t there. She is still in the dark about it. I predict that Jim will not die. I’ll let you know where to send my winnings.
Silverpearl about 16 years ago
That’s her mother and father in the second panel.

Is 8/31 the last day for this comic? I read that Lynn is semi retiring and the strip will start over with some edits. If so I hope that Grandpa is ok, but it since has been following real life he may not make it.

Its hard to tell who it is in panel #2 w/just a silhouette. When the late Grandma Marian was drawn before, she appeared as a ghostly spirit. Farley appeared the same way.
Treschelle about 16 years ago
I believe the silhouette is Liz’s parents….compare panel one to panel two…. that is what would make sense in my opinion.
summerdog86 about 16 years ago
I agree that it’s Liz’s parents in panel two. Does anyone know if Go Comics is going to carry Lynn’s new and re-designed strip of FBOFW? When does it start?

That Anthonny is a very lucky guy, the only one with more luck than him is… ME!!! I am in love with my wife and she makes me happy :-D Love this comic is so true life and still makes me smile every day. I won’t mind reading reruns it will be like looking over old pics of my family and laugh all over again with all those memories ;-D

I agree with ddmouse. Liz’s mother is more or less in front of her dad. While the two in panel two, are more side by side holding hands. Grandpa has passed away!
summerdog86 about 16 years ago
Nope, it’s Elly and John in panel two. Look at Elly’s hair and dress…it’s the same shape. Same with John’s shape of face…that long drawn jaw. I’m sure that Lynn means it to be Liz’s parents.
bluetopazcrystal about 16 years ago
Wow imagine discussing Lynn’s art work. It’s a no brainer. I am pretty certain the silouettes are John and Elly.

Congratulating comic strip characters…
Makes reality TV fans look bright by comparison.
Get a grip, folks
dalegarratt about 16 years ago
Hi, indigoindowntheroad. Look, if educated people can relate to the characters in a book (say, in Huck Finn or Pride and Predjudice), why can’t we relate to the characters in “For Better or Worse”? Lynn Johnston, in my opinion, does a comic strip with real class and genuine art in it.
BTW, Yah Liz! Don’t ever go back to those losers like Eric who just cheated on you!
