Elly should demand equal time. She should get as many days to herself as he’s getting. Sure part of what he’s doing is work related but he gets a break from home and family and she deserves the same.
yeah… boring for YOU John…but she would be sittin by the pool at the hotel…. sippin ice tea and then when you get out of those boring lectures… you guys would have a couple of nice romantic nights to rekindle your boring marriage!

As I recall, she went off to her folks, sans the kids, just a couple of months ago.
I think John should have asked Elly whether she wanted to go or not, rather than deciding for her. Then if she wanted to go, she could make the arrangements for the kids. She might decide that’s more of a hassle, and stay at home, but then she wouldn’t resent you near as much as she probably will this way.
Remembered what we saw another strip about John taking care of their kids while Elly gone visiting at her parents’ home in Vancouver, B.C. on the vacation. Now John’s turn to going out of town for boring convention somewhere else. Elly, kick his butt for leaving you and the kids alone while he will be gone.

That was what I tried to say like that. You beat me LOLs! Enjoy a nice day! :-)
John & the kids could have gone to visit Elly’s parents with her, & I’m sure the parents would have loved to see the kids. The only reason I can think of for them not going is that John didn’t want to go, & Elly couldn’t manage the kids on the plane by herself.
I doubt Elly would have gone on the business trip had she been asked – the point is that she wasn’t asked.
Ok, those people who think Elly is being selfish or irresponsible or that she doesn’t need a break from the children either don’t have children or are not the primary caregivers to their children.
I know I could use a big break every couple of months… too bad they don’t come my way

John, you could have said, “conventions are basically like day-long corporate meetings worsened much by being extended over more than one day”.

Wasn’t that sweet of John to make up Elly’s mind. Us women need to be controlled and told what to do and when to do it. :{

It’s ok. Now she has something else to go whine about with her whiny, man-hating, man-desiring neighbor.
