They should be tinted a nice shade of deep pink…. sunscreen people, sunscreen!!! We put it on before we get dressed on days when the UV index is high. Easier to make sure everything that might get exposed is covered…..

I’m blinded by Lynn Johnson’s idiocy. In sending her strips out for a second lifetime she has an opportunity to do things right, things that she got wrong first time around.

Well, we can hope that in a strip or two we see them looking like lobsters and getting a lecture from the hotel doctor. Or maybe meeting a local with a huge pit in his face (or a missing arm) where a melanoma was removed.

diggitt, it’s a comic, not a social commentary. The connection between tanning and skin cancer was not as well known in 1981, and there is no real reason for Lynn to have changed her strip to suit the “cancer police”. Besides, you don’t know that they aren’t wearing sun screen, do you?

What the heck does the old tanned man have two straws in his glass on his right hand? For himself?

    (chuckled laughs!)

So, is he a fulltime resident at the resort, or just been there longer than our heroes can afford to stay? Or maybe the others tan better. Or maybe they did artificial tanning before they came. Yes, it’s sort of cute, but it’s also “verrrry schtupid!”, to quote Arte Johnson’s German soldier on “Laugh In”.

How about this for a thought. The sun is bad and gives skin cancer so put suntan lotion on…..Skin cancers rise, put more suntan lotion, more skin cancer, more suntan lotion. the higher the SPF the higher the concentration of cheical blocking agents. Is it possible that the sun tan lotion may be to blame? Every read the chemical list that compose suntan lotion? Titanium chromium hydroxide, etc. this stuff must be great for skin and the pours. Why is that skin cancer is rising eventhough more lotipon than ever is being used? What the sun just turned poisenous after billions of years? Is there more skin cancer in non suntan lotion countries aka thid world??? Buy the hype skin cancer is rising, “Put More Lotion On” Its good for you.

I just assume they are wearing sun screen. Why not? I don’t go to the beach very often (almost never), and try to be very careful about my skin when I do go out, but occasionally sun bathing feels really nice, especially on vacation. (And we do need some vitamin D.) Except in Australia, where it probably isn’t a good idea to be out in the sun long (sorry ‘bout that ozone hole the world gave you, guys).

I slather on the sunscreen whenever I’m going to be out in the summer sun for longer than 10 or 15 minutes because my fair skin burns pretty easily. I’m probably even paler than John and Elly are but if I can avoid getting skin cancer, then I don’t care!

I never remain in the sun (and would not tan if I did) Heritage entirerly British Isles, so I could burn but never tan and I have always prefered the shade an use shade umbrellas when there is no natural shade.
