By the size of the tent, I think they needed another tent even without all the extras.

Mike doesn’t a pup tent, he needs a circus tent.

Far out? I thought Lynn was going to update these comics. Come to think about it, ‘far out’ was a late 60’s, early 70’s term and this strip came out in 1979. So, most likely term was outdated when this comic originally published. On the other hand, this comic is based in Canada and maybe the term was still in vogue there. Then again, FBOFW is a comic not a formal speech so does it really matter? :-)

As a boy scout, I used to go camping in early November in a tent … try getting up at 6am, when it’s -5C and being excited. You haven’t ‘roughed it’ until you’ve done winter tent camping!!

Lynn’s Notes: Alan and I would sleep outside in the back yard every summer. We’d look forward to the adventure of being outdoors – forgetting the mosquitoes, which instantly filled the floorless space as soon as the thing was rigged. With blankets, food, transistor radio, toys and bedrolls, we more than filled the enclosure. We were lucky, as the bugs bit and we bickered, if we could last two nights.

It’s only lame if you’ve outgrown it. Kids still love it because it gets them out of the bedroom and away (they think) from the parents for the night.

Not in this economy. Staycations are the way to go.

We have some nice property in a rural area and our daughter is always wanting to bring our grandsons out to camp. Swears she/they won’t bother us. :D
