anxious to get back to school?…….NEVER. My grandkids are sooooooo ready to get back, even though they say they are not. Or maybe it is just MOM and GRANNY that is ready for them to be back in school. haha
My kids started this week, and they were very excited about it. They love school, their teachers and learning, but I think they are the exception. Whenever someone asked them if they were ready to go back to school and they said “yes!” with a smile, the other person was usually surprised. Granted, they’re still in elementary school, so they haven’t gotten to the tough part yet, but so is Michael…
Kids anxious to get back to school?BAH! HUMBUG!Only the day before the first day, and then maybe the first day. After that, NOT!Summer is too short and goes too quickly as it is.
I loved school – I would happily have spent every day of my life there, surrounded by books. Although the library would have been as good in some respects.
The only better thing was university. I would still be there now if it had been possible!
I always loved school. Besides the learning and the books, it got me away from my home and family for a few hours a day. What I didn’t like was the bullies.
Hated it past first grade, the bullies were relentless. At home I could get some respite from the bullying, but still had to deal with it there, too. So, lose/lose situation.
My least favorite subject was History, until I studied European History in college, and visited Hittite and other sites in Turkey – then with the background, American History made more sense.
Surely Elly knew to buy Lizzie her own eraser and pencils plus little tablets. I used to buy all those things for our kids before they were of age to begin school.
In many cases, we should. I don’t advocate spanking children, but I can think of many adults who should be beaten to within an inch of their lives- and which side of the inch-mark doesn’t matter.

With some exceptions, I was bored out of my skull in school.

I don’t like how Elly has a hold of Lizzie’s arm.

@summerdog … she could have grabbed her nose, but it would probably slip off.
