just throw it in the bin! you don’t have to finish off your kid’s food – it isn’t ‘wasteful’ -

Diets never worked for me. Portion control is the way I did it. Everything in moderation. Not easy, but once I saw that it worked, it got better.

I used to say that if it didn’t go to waste, it would go to my waist.

I had a friend that would cut any meal he was served into 2 halves. He would have them pack up 1 half, he would eat the other half and then leave the rest there.

I always have my husband order the desert my kid wants and nothing for myself, then when she says she’s full after eating only 1/3-1/2 of it, I get the rest. Then I’m only eating half a dessert, not 1&1/2 =) If you know it;s going to happen anyways, might as well plan for it. Then if she DOES finish (which is rare) I don;t miss not having something.

Who in their right mind would eat after one of those little germ monsters?

I have never called myself, or anyone else a goon. I use the word ‘idiot.’. If I find myself doing something stupid, I mutter to myself, “I’m an idiot!” Then my next thought is always, “Don’t say that — it’s negative programming, you moron!”

Lynn’s Notes:Here is an example of bad lettering. Hand lettering has to be neat, clean, and legible. Spaces between the words are important as well. You have to make sure that the reader’s eyes flow easily over the text and that he knows exactly what’s being said. I never thought twice about the lettering in this strip until I received a note from a reader saying he couldn’t understand why: In the second panel, Elly had called herself a “goon.”-———————————————————-I thought the exact same thing! Now I see it is go on. Thanks!

I’ve fought the “battle of the bulge” all my life “go on” and “goon” can be interchangeable here. Depends upon my mood..

Stick it in the freezer for later. If you insulate the cone with a napkin, it can be eaten before it falls apart. Unless it was originally a double-dip, she hasn’t eaten enough to have had one in the first place.

This is how my cousin gained so much weight over the last 11 or 12 years. Anything her son didn’t/wouldn’t eat would get eaten by her (right along with what was on her own plate) so that it wouldn’t go to waste . . . and while doing that, it went to (her) “waist” instead!!!!!

I share more meals now since I cannot eat the same anymore (GB is a blessing) … save it for another meal(s) in the future. But finishing your plate makes absolutely no difference to any starving kids anywhere – when you finish they are still hungry. Eating 200 more calories a day more than your body can use up, over 5 years, can gain you 100 lbs … and it’s subtle enough to sneak up on you because you just get bigger clothes “cuz they feel nicer.”
