I was thinking of the current state of the economy. There are plenty of people with degrees who are out of work. Working at the dump probably pays better than flipping burgers somewhere.

My father was a chemical engineer and back in the 50s he said that dumps ought to employ chem majors to make sure different chemicals did not mix. He was right.

If ‘go to university’ is Canadian, how does that translate into American?

At least the meaning is still CLEAR!!!!! The “good old U.S. of A.” has their own brand of English, as does Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and all the other Commonwealth nations. Why not comment on the different dialects in the "good old U.S. of A.?

One day we will not need a dump. … . We will need to build things to last ….-—————————We can’t build things to last. Look at all the people you would put out of work because manufacturers couldn’t make extra money selling worthless replacements.
