But Custer’s last stand was in the U.S. territory (later state) of Montana, not the Canadian province of Ontario.

As opposed to Custard’s Last Stand which is a good place to buy soft ice cream.

I came across one in NJ while visiting friends. That is nowhere near where I live, I assure you.I’m a NoVa native – born inside the Beltway, but I live farther out – in Low Down County.

I agree with trekman58 – although Pastis makes a bit more effort (for much more painful results).

Time to circle the wagons, John. You can get your son to sound the retreat on his trumpet. Afterall, he is called little big horn !

I have a small artificial tree that I put in the window. I hate the mess and complications of a full size live tree.

We had two Christmas trees for a couple years while I was growing up: A real one in the living room and an aluminum one with a color wheel in the basement/family room. Mom hated the latter (wasn’t one of those depicted in “A Charlie Brown Christmas?”) and it didn’t last long. Thankfully.

When I was a kid I thought that the Custard Stand and Custer’s Last Stand were one and the same.

Before the battle was over, the Lakota/Cheyenne had already struck camp and on their way to Canada. Unfortunately, to an area of famine.

Then there’s the story of the classic team of Laurel and Hardy. Ollie just loved to cook, and his specialty was dessert (as you can just imagine from his physique), while his partner tended to favor more low cal fare. However, he did want to treat his buddy, so tried several recipes, none of which really hit home. Finally he found one that worked, so he stopped experimenting. It was, at long last, Stan’s last custard. I’ll go hid now

I never liked killing a tree for Christmas and throwing it away a month later, so when I set up my own home I bought an artificial tree I could use year after year. The tree became a tradition like the heritage decorations I put on it every year. This year I’ll be setting up my third tree in forty years.
