It’s good to see a positive thought from Phil!

We did 50 years ago, regardless of what my parents said. NEVER regretted a day during that time except got getting to finish my life with her my by side. Didn’t ever hear a comment similar to that from my in-laws(real sweethearts) ! ! !

They say the two happiest days in a mans life are the day he gets married and the day he gets divorced (not necessarily in that order)!

For me, truer words were never spoken!!!

Things have surely changed in 50 years. When I was a kid I knew exactly ONE person who was divorced.

We just celebrated our 54th.

Generally,it takes two to make a marriage work(or any relationship) and two to screw it up.I learned this the hard way.Good luck Phil and Georgia!

Did Phil and Georgia have much of a role in the early FBOFW strips when the kids were older? Knowing Phil, I wonder if the marriage would have lasted!

All marriages are happy!It’s that living together that gets to you!A few years ago, was at a restaurant and a couple were celebrating their 50th – sort of————It seems they divorced, remarried others, and then decided they were better off the first time and remarried!(I’m at 49, but making 50 is iffy due to health reasons)

Anyone else remember the C/W song "Thank God and Greyhound she’s gone?

I’m only at 48, but I remember the remark of a gentleman who at his 60th anniversary was asked ’Can you really still love your wife after 60 years of marriage? " His reply," No, not after 60 years of marriage, because of them"

We were married nearly 55 years until his passing. Still miss him after 5 1/2 years.

Even a moron gets it right once.

I was just told by an older man, that he would be married 70 years as of tues. I then asked him how long he was a bigamist……..

Wife #2 for my husband, but this Autumn makes 32 yrs, whereas his first marriage lasted a mere 18 mos. I must be doing something right!

To the naysayers,

Phil and Georgia did stay married. They watched Michael and Liz grow up into adults in their early thirties, they became great aunt and uncle to Michael’s children and Liz’s step daughter, welcomed another niece April and watched her grow up into a teenager. So that’s over twenty years of marriage, folks. Phil only thought he was a true bachelor thriving on being free and wheeling. Marrying Georgina taught him that he was mistaken. Bet he was glad he was wrong about himself.
