I don’t think that is the lesson your mother had in mind, MIchael.

In order for this comic strip to work, you kind of have to forget that Michael has been dating Martha since last April and Elly is aware that Michael has a girlfriend.

Yeah this doesn’t work if he’s already dating somebody.

Ellie likes lectures. So she feels good. Doubt that Michael learned much.

Children need to be taught when they’re young so they will continue doing the right things when they’re older. Elly was too busy taking care of baby Elizabeth to give Michael the training he needed later in life. “You’ve got to be carefully taught.”

Wise. Though I suspect that whomever you end up with will end up being just like your Mother. Eventually.

As if it were your choice, Mike. Someone like your mother won’t want to date you.

Those sloppy habits become a real issue in the adult world. That’s especially true if he decides to do white-collar type work.

I abhor seeing someone hold their fork or spoon like a shovel. I make certain my nieces and nephews know the proper method.

True that. My ex-wife was more like my mother than not. Even down to the mental cruelty. The present wife, of 27 years in February, is most not like either of them. I thank dog every day.

In order to teach a kid to have good table manners and decent attire, nagging is a necessity…but, you have to do it while they’re young.
