It certainly is a miracle. My nephew and his wife unfortunately just lost a foetus after 10 weeks, but everything was already formed; fingers, toes and such, even though it was only about 2 centimeters. Amazing how nature works.

I never knew that new born babies in Canada were created in test tubes in hospital labs. That sounds like a plot from a mad scientist’s science fiction movie.

What’s also puzzling is how she is able to pour her coffee right into her cup while looking straight ahead. How does she know when to stop? How does she know where to aim?

While Connie’s description is right that there are two distinct types of cells: prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells that organize into tissues and organs. Those organisms could be higher order plants and animals, not just human babies. Why do I get the feeling the author was actually talking about sperm and ova and got confused?

Originally, Lynn Johnston was going to make Connie sort of a rival to Elly…. the feminist antagonist who lived next door. However, it didn’t end up that way.

How about when John stuck his foot in his mouth about birth. Supposedly it happened when Michael got Rhetta pregnant and she went into labour. After some time there was no news.

John: What is all the holdup? Michael was born in ten minutes,

Elly{glowering}: Actually, the process took 51 hours.

John: Really? Well, the time just flew by!

Why is it hard to believe? It’s been happening for millions of years. Millions of kids are born every day across the whole world. Same with animals. I’ve never understood calling it “a miracle.” Miracles are unnatural. There’s nothing more natural than birth, no matter how it happens.

Yes, those two cells cause a lot of pain on the day of delivery.
