Dicky: Hey champ, I know you're only 5, But I think it's time I introduce you to the wonders of the universe! See those stars? How many do you think there are ? Baby: um 12? Dicky: Actually, there's over 300 sextillion stars ! That's a 3 with 23 zeros after it. Baby: and that's more than 12? Dicky: Maybe I should introduce you to the wonders of math first.

What always stunned me as a little kid was the idea that the universe was infinite, that it went on forever. Even though science now tells us it’s not infinite, they also tell us it’s expanding at an ever increasing rate, so it might as well be infinite. Totally blew my mind at a time when 30 seemed old, 50 seemed ancient, and 100 just seemed like an impossibly long time, probably prehistoric.

To make it a little confusing: some of the dots are planets. Some of the dots are whole galaxies with a hundred billion stars and planets.
