i like “encyclopedias brown and white” – a little non-PC but catchy. i remember an old series of children’s stories with a character called encyclopaedia brown. could be a neat take-off.

I love the fact that E.Brown is white and E. White is brown. Very yin-yang-y. Yeah, I read ’em,too!

Hardly Boys sure beats Nancy Drool by a mile.

I’m guessing this particular strip came out before the South park Hardly boys episode :)

I’m familiar with Hardy Boys, Encyclopedia Brown, and the Three Investigators, but I must have missed whatever ‘The Great Brains’ references.Also, I notice Amend did a PVP crossover strip with Jason and Paige on pvponline.com today.

Sorry guys Hardy Boys already taken. How about slueths.

I didn’t understand “The Great Brains” reference either… any thoughts?

Look up “The Great Brain” series of children’s books. Great reading, even as an adult—guarantee you’ll bust your sides laughing. They take place in Utah during the end of the 1800s, and are “based” on a true-life family. (notice the square quotes)
