About 30 years ago, I quit a job that paid $2K per month (great pay for me) and good coworkers but a misanthropic supervisor whose goal in life seemed to be to make everyone else as miserable as he was. I’d lined up another job that only paid $1K a month but it was something I loved doing. People would ask if I was crazy and I’d tell them, “I may be making half as much money now, but I’m twice as happy.”
Moral of the story: Anytime you have a job that makes you dread waking up in the morning, it’s time to find something else no matter how much it pays. Life’s too short already…why spend time hating it?
I once had a job that made me cry when I got to the parking lot in the morning. Needless to say, I quit, and although it was very difficult for a while I found a much better job that didn’t make me cry. Sometimes you have to just say “It’s your money or your life”.

You missed just ONE step there, Roger: You needed to line up another job before quitting your current one. Bills still need to get paid.

If you quit your job you’ll be freezing alright when you can’t pay your heating bill
