This is the reason I quit wearing a watch or setting an alarm clock.

Life begins the day you retire. I retired, prematurely, at 59. I will be 85 in a few months when I expect to become a grandpa for the first time in my life. I joined a successul expedition to Mount Kailas, the world’s third highest peak in the Himalayas: a birthday gift I gave myself on reaching 75! Who needs a watch that limits both your time and days!

Monks (and nuns) tend not to retire–they just get lighter workloads … which means we still contribute to the community. We are the true (Spiritual) Communists: “From each according to ability; to each according to need.” And it works (more or less) because we have bigger things to focus on than who has the most toys.
