I’m a Red Blooded Born and Raised Yooper, and proud of it. I prefer to be thought of as a “ganian” and not a “gander” which is a goose.

We may sound odd, but we’re even. & many of us look at the palm of our right hand to show where we live. Mine is about an inch to an inch & a half above my wrist, on the Big Lake side, but then all sides of MI are on a big lake. We touch four of the five. It is one beautiful state that has everything. (except jobs) My avatar is of Pigeon Hill which was one of our fantastic dunes, and was sold off to be used for who knows what. It wouldn’t be allowed in this day age.

And on the one hand, we have…a sleeve…?

Ashburn, Cathy and others, please help me in my campaign to change the term to describe the fortunate people who live in in this beautiful land shaped by the inland seas…Let’s just add a “er” to the word Michigan? Michiganer. No extra letters, no confused meanings…I don’t care how it’s pronounced, Michigan-er, or MichiGANer…I prefer Michigan-er just because it’s funky. Please help me in this campaign!. I hate both those other terms….I’m a Michiganer, thank you…

BTW, to make the shape of the UP, use your left hand and make the shape of a pretend gun; Thumb up, index finger pointed straight out, other three curled back. OK, turn your hand palm side towards you. Put your middle finger next to the index finger, bend the thumb a little. Viola! You have the UP of Michigan…(technically the best part, eh?) Then make your right hand into the familiar mitten shape,and hold your left hand above and to the left of it and you have a complete map of Michigan. I probably can’t copy right, that can I?

And, just because I feel like being a dink…Hey, rest of the world,We have all the water!!! Don’t even think about coming to get it…I know what you’re thinking…How did all your water get in our lakes? But there it is…

De Yoopers best song may be “the Second week of deer camp,” but “Rusty Chevrolet” is right up there!!
