nope! I have a quilt pieced by my late Mother in law and quilted by my Mother. I will never use it,but it will be passed down to future generations.

Yup, Nab, you really should use it….Use it like a comforter, not as a blanket. Wrap yourself in it on a cold evening, in your easy chair, and read a book and sip hot chocolate. There is a warmth in that blanket that has nothing to do with temperature, and you’re missing it…..At least use it for special occasions……

I have a hand knit throw my mom made. It’s beautiful…. I display it and use it gently….Remember, ships are safe in the harbor, but that’s not what ships are for…..

There’s a fine line to tread with preserving/enjoying handmade gifts from those departed. my great grandma loved to quilt and made me several pillows and a bedspread that we used on my bed as a child until it started to fall apart and I begged for a whole new bed set. When my parents found it tucked away and offered it for my children I thought that was a great use, until the first bloody nose had me examining every inch to make sure it wasn’t in need of stain treatment that would fade the fabric or machine washing that would pop yet more stiches. For now it’s saved, but when we’re over bed wetting and nose picking we can pul it out to enjoy.
