Seriously, how many eight-year-olds (?) would know that the NFL was formed in 1920?

In 1860 the discussion might have evolved around the topic that, in April, 1861, became the tragic central focus of families for the next 4 years.

So is Frazz suggesting that we are on the verge of another Civil War?

NO Thanksgiving in 1860. Lincoln invented it a few years later.

Thanksgiving did not become a holiday until 1863.

Is Frazz making a dire prediction?

I surprised that no one has commented on what I read in Caulfield’s NFL remark implying that the football discussion at Thanksgiving had some of the negativity of political discussion.

There’s a traveling exhibit making a stop right now at The Henry Ford Museum, “Rockwell, Roosevelt & the Four Freedoms.” You’ve seen those Norman Rockwell paintings — Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want and Freedom, from Fear. They’re a part of our culture, a part of our national identity, or at least a part of our national ideal. You could study those paintings for a long time, and they’re new each time. New, and yet familiar. And one of the most striking aspects of Freedom from Want is the Freedom from Televised Football. Although, I can’t be sure. A lot of the people in that picture are looking in the same direction, and it’s not at the turkey. Maybe there’s a big ol’ wall-mounted high-def TV behind Rockwell and his easel.
