Vlad III (1431–1476) was a nobleman - the ruler of Wallachia. By the fifteenth centure, the inly barbarians in Europe wore cassocks and worked for the Inquisition. The name Drăculea, which means ‘Dragon’, came from his father, Vlad II, who took it as his surname when he joined the Order of the Dragon, a chivalric knighthood formed to fight the Turks.
