    Luckily, I’ve never been an itchy swimmer, though at different times I’ve had to dodge chicken heads from a near-by rendering plant, jelly fish, sea urchins, and general pollution. (It should not be necessary to say that all this was outside the USA and its waters….)

    Swimmer’s itch would appear to be present where you find water fowl. I’m not saying that swimming in a duck sewer is the cause of swimmer’s itch, but the implication is clear.

    I used to swim a lot, and always wondered why I never got swimmer’s itch. Now I know. Long before I was born, bill had solved the problem. Spent a lot of time swimming in Lake Erie, on the Canadian side, about a mile from a Heinz ketchup plant. My brother and I got very, very sick once. Why couldn’t Bill have worked on the tomato hornworm problem?
