Scancarelli needs to cut Slim a little slack.

Jim, the Slim character would make a great storyline and serve as a role model for millions of Americans with varying degrees of a weight problem. Lets put Slim in the midst of a healthy eating and exercise campaign. There are scores of storyline possibilities. How about it?

oldbooger, that’s a wonderful suggestion. Perhaps a cross-promotion with The Biggest Loser could be arranged.

Some might say cartoon characters would have limited impact, but look how Joe Camel was received.

One more suggestion, Mr. Scancarelli - acknowledge and apologize for your plagiarism tomorrow. It’s the right thing to do.

jerumulligan1 what plagiarism are you talking about. For Slim to loose all that weight wouldn’t this take away from his character? I struggle with weight and change eatting habits. I am taking classes on-line and sometimes is to hectic to get out and exercise. I have two here I use for short work outs.

I was surprised by the lack of attribution, too, jerumulligan1. Kab, last Sunday, the strip included the (somewhat altered) words of “The Fat Man’s Prayer”, which was written by Victor Buono, not Jim Scancarelli. Given that he writes cute poems on occasion for his strips, it sure seemed like he was passing that one off as his own.

WinnieNicklaus (great name, BTW - I just visited the Jack Nicklaus Museum in Columbus last month), thanks for noticing that, too.

The reason I called for Mr. Scancarelli to correct his actions tomorrow is that the Sunday panels tend to get more views. Since his plagiarism occurred on Sunday, the mea culpa needs to be similarly featured.
