Transcript:
Bucky: Oh! Quick! I need something red so I can elevate the threrret level to high! They left a water bottle outside, Rob! Water! It's a threat! I hate water! Rob: Was it a krakow springs bottle? Bucky: Yeah, how did you... Oh! Poland! It's a sign! They're invading! Rob: Sorry, the zipper on my bag is broken, that fell out of it earlier. Threat level back to lettuce. Bucky: Loose zips cause trips, Robert.

Four panels of “ears up” today, probably a record. Or at least a good average.

OK, even though though this is a repeat, let’s celiibrate the drawings of Bucky. He really is darling…

It’s great seeing Bucky with his ears in a normal position.

Why doesn’t 9 Chickweed Lane have comments? Is Brooke McEldowney afraid of criticism.

Last panel – could have called him “Robbery!”

Reminds me of one of my favorite jokes ever, from ‘Fawlty Towers:’
(Basil insults a young German tourist, bringing her to tears…)
Her friend: Now look what you’ve done.
Basil: Me? You started it.
Friend: We did – when?
Basil: When you invaded Poland!

Ah, a new shock factor rating system, a “bucky two ears up!”

This appears to be drawn by a different hand. Outsourcing?
grizby about 12 years ago
Just LUV IT when he puts those ears up!

Even with comments down he’s gotten some unbelievable comments from “fans.” During the “is Edda pregnant” storyline he got a number of comments telling him that the character had to have an abortion because “she had the right to choose and that right should be exercised.” And then when he put this in the strip he was informed that no one would ever take that attitude… It’s no wonder he dumped the comments. The strip is his work of art and he’s rightly opposed to ignorant critiques of it.

He was tripping. HAHAHAHAHHA.

Yep—this has to be a record, in terms of the number of “ears-up” frames.
Somehow, Bucky just isn’t himself with the raised ears, though. He looks almost ……. normal!
……..
Wait. Bucky … “normal”? Scratch that!

Mr. McEldowney’s work is wonderful in the full sense of the word. It needs no commentary. If you love images of beauty, he’s your guy. If you think women are kinda cute, he’s your guy…If an ironic iconoclastic sense of humor ripe with belly laughs is your desire, again, he’s your man….Seriously, it got out of hand. There were people calling him the perfect master! It bugged him…..Leave him be and let him keep drawing…… He don’t need no advice……………..

Hey, Michelangelo, why aren’t those two fingers touching? Isn’t that paint too bright for the subject matter? That angel looks too heavy to fly….I guess it could get old after a while…….

In that last panel Bucky actually makes sense! No wonder Issac is coming to the US! LOL!

I spend enough time on the computer as it is without emailing Brooke. I get his reasons, and I was there though I missed the trolls at the end before the comments stopped. I do find myself wanting to comment, at both strips, but especially 9 Chickweed Lane. I love that strip and discovered it way before Pibgorn.

I remember reading some of those comments ….. out of control is putting it mildly.
