There’s an old time cure for that sort of thing, Satch. It’s called a “blanket party”. Wrap that cat up in that towel and use that stick to fwap the bejesus out of him!

Throwing sticks is a dog thing. What cheers up cats is a nice snug cardboard box to climb into.
