Coaching genius Gil calls for a fly pattern, catching the opponent by surprise. What imagination. A pacesetter in play calling. Annnnddd it happened on a cold wintery night in Milford.
Tomorrow’s strip:P1: Ball in the air [no dialogue]P2: Tays makes a spectacular leaping one-handed grab in the end zone [no dialogue]P3: Momma Tays and Pops Tays high-low their son as he’s about to land, causing the ball to fall innocently to the ground, incomplete [no dialogue]
I can imagine being in the audience during Tays’ speech, and how uncomfortable it must be when he suddenly stops telling the tale and closes his eyes and relives the game winning/losing moment for a couple of minutes. Hopefully he snaps out of it. And speaking of snapping, when I snap my fingers, you’re going to go over to Mopped Up Thorp.
Hmm, is that Tay with his sudden skin pigmentation issue busting open downfield? Or is he the decoy and we’re seeing Larry Teammate is open for the winning touchdown? What I’d like to see tomorrow? Tays turning around near the endzone with no defender within 15 yards of him. And the ball dropping 25 yards short of him. Because, realistically, how far could the QB throw it based on P2? That looks like one of Stafford’s sidearm dumpoffs.

4th and 15 and you let a receiver get behind you like that? Where’s the safety help?

We’ve wasted almost a week on this flashback. I’d rather be reading about Mimi kicking back with the pool boy

Tomorrow: “After I dropped the pass, coach Thorp said just one thing: ‘Typical young team! There’s only one stat that matters!’”

Checking back to 07/11/22’s strip, he did say he wanted to “share a story”, not “say a few words”, so this is understandable.

The way the QB is gripping the ball, there’s no way he throws a spiral.

So, did the storyteller (Tays?) stop talking and just show pictures to the (spellbound) audience?

Perhaps he’s not throwing to Tays. Perhaps.

P-2: Joe Kapp grabs the ball in the middle.
