G’day Jason, Dry, JFri, Ottod, Meggsiefan, Frank and all Meggsie’s mates.
Ginge and Bennie: Spare a thought for old Canehard - in this litigious age he has lost two of his charges. Imagine what he must be feeling, irate parents wallowing in a mire of self-righteousness, an angry headmaster, a feeling of inadequacey.
OH! I see. You are remembering what you felt in the days when his name said it all. Was it really so bad that a teacher could inflict a bit of corporal punishment.
Hell no! I copped my share and trust I have never been a threat to society, harboured inward grudges against the world, detested authority and so on. I even think teachers are a dedicated and most valued breed.

Spent many happy times with friends up in the Riverina while on camping holidays. Highlight of the day was to settle around a campfire at night (note the oxymoron) with friends and swap yarns, along with a little lie or two to embellish the story.
Fair dinkum, the mozzies were so bad that the only way to stop a mob of ‘em carrying you off into the scrub for a meal was to throw ‘buffalo chips’ on the campfire to make a smoke screen.
Got rid of the mozzies, along with any desire to make a cuppa from the billy of water hanging over the fire.
Man alive!…. Bunyips, yowis, muzzies, bloodnuts, boofheads, dingbats and who knows what else….if I ever go to Australia I’ll wear an armored suit and carry an AK-47! ….and an Australian/English dictionary….and that’s “fair dinkum!”…..( did I say that right?)

Scat!!! Oh dear! But from what dangerous animal? I don’t believe there are any bears in Australia. A Dingo perhaps? Best head back to camp you two!
G’day Jason, JFri, usfellers, ottod, and Meggsiefan!

Howdy, all.
The expressions in the 4th panel are great, Jason!
I’ve had quite a few meals cooked over burning cow chips. A good rule of thumb is, “If they smell, they won’t burn.”
“…don’t burn the kangaroo poo, Benny. Don’t burn the kangaroo poo…”

I take it a mozzie is the Aussie equivalent of Minnesota’s state bird, the mosquito?
ottod Premium Member about 14 years ago
There are no equivalents. Only less pale imitations.
