This drives me bonkers. Ginger’s friend is trying to make a comment on Death Penalty. There are many people who do this. They mishear the word… and it gets stuck. It might be an actual hearing problem. But I have also discovered that those who mix up the words Deaf-Death also can’t spell-hear the difference between Pen (as in pig pen or Bic pen) and Pin (as in pinning a shirt together).
