The best way that my wife and I found when our cat would bring in squirrels was to use a towel and a broom and “herd” them out an open door. We would have to put the cat in a separate room because she would bring them back in if we were successful in getting them outside.
I told the story before when one would fall down the chimney flue and get trapped behind the glass doors! They are NOT at all happy to be where they are, and they are NOT easy to trap in the house…
