I am given to understand that it is SOP in institutions, like banks, where there is always a danger of embezzlement, to require employees to take vacations. Occasionally it will surface, that, during the employee’s absence, some things (like previously-unreported revenues, or kickback payments to the replacement) that will reveal hanky-panky on the part of the vacationer that he or she has been able to cover up.
