I’ll never forget when a student (I live a couple blocks from the university which was great when I was teaching there) broke into my back room – screen and door – and wobbled in. That room is my bedroom and it was 3 in the am and I almost picked up the lead bottom lamp and cold-cocked him but he was drunk. I told him to get out of my house, go around front and wait for the cops, I’m calling them right now. He did go out front haha and it was freezing so I gave him a coat til the cops came. It went to court and if I had filed a charge it would have been a felony so I just asked him to pay for the doors and preached him a good motherly sermon. I met his parents and hugged him goodbye. So there’s my strange story.
